Welcome to the 44th Annual John Henry Memorial tournament, taking
place at the Gemini Sportsplex in Strathroy.
The Strathroy & District Minor Hockey Association will be hosting 44
teams from Tyke through to Midget this
weekend with over 750 players. We extend a special welcome to participating
teams who have traveled great distances to be with us…we are glad you are here!
The intent of the tournament is to provide an atmosphere for Local and House League players that contributes to promoting citizenship, goodwill and sportsmanship through competition. The founder, John Henry, was a First Nations Canadian and long time resident of the Strathroy area. He spent countless hours coaching and managing Local and House League Teams.
On behalf of SDMHA and our local community, we thank you for your participation and encourage you to take in all that the tournament has to offer.
Be sure to check out Pete's Sports located in the Gemini Sportsplex for skate sharpening and any last minute essentials. They will be open on Dec. 27, 28, and 29th from 7am-9pm.
Don't forget to visit the raffle table to try your chance at winning some of the awesome items available. There is a photographer on hand to capture all those great action pictures, as well as other vendors with hockey cards and memorabilia. We also are featuring a Puck Zone attraction in the Westcast room on Dec 27th, 28th & 29th where participants can test their shooting accuracy within a given time limit.
A map has been included in your team package that outlines local restaurants and attractions in the Town of Strathroy. Harveys and The Duke on Sydenham, has offered teams a 10% discount. Please call ahead of time to The Duke so they can arrange tables for large groups. They are located at 51 Front St. E. and can be contacted at 519-245-9111.
Be sure to visit our website www.sdmha.org for up to the minute tournament scores and schedules.
