SDMHA 2023-24 REGISTRATION NOW OPEN, News (Strathroy Minor Hockey)

STRATHROY DISTRICT MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!      Welcome to Strathroy District Minor Hockey Association, home of the Strathroy Jr. Rockets.

Changes to this year’s registration process

·        Upcoming Classification Change starting 2023/24 season

Next season SDMHA, along with Dorchester, Mt Brydges, St. Marys, New Hamburg, Norfolk, South Oxford (Ingersoll and Tillsonburg amalgamated) will be classified as 'A' centres within the OMHA framework. What that means to our membership is that we will now offer competitive teams in birth years (2 birth years in U18 only) for the following teams:

U18 -2006,2007

U16 -2008

U15- 2009

U14- 2010

U13- 2011

U12- 2012

U11- 2013

U10- 2014

 

To support this change, we will be accepting up to 2 NRP’s for U12 and up to 3 NRP's for U13-18 (Non-Resident Players – i.e. – players whose home center is not SDMHA) per competitive team. In keeping with the timeline of other ‘A’ centers, we will be conducting Spring tryouts for each team (U18 will be fall tryouts, in keeping with timeline of other ‘A’ centers). Conditioning skates for those interested in trying out for an ”A” team, will be April 30th -May 6th, and tryouts will be held May 8th -14th.

·        Second entry teams, (as we are able to field them), will have tryouts in the fall. Not all age groups will have second entry teams as the player numbers and skill level may not be conducive to adding another competitive team.

• Registration will close at 11:59 pm on Friday, May 5^th for all players interested in “A” tryouts. 
• ALL OTHER PLAYERS – Registration will close on June 30^th, after which a $150 late feel will apply EXCEPT TO PLAYERS NEW TO SDMHA.
• Registration is on a first come, first served basis so it is important to register as soon as possible.   If a category limit is reached, registrants may be placed on a waiting list pending SDMHA's review of registration numbers in each category.

 

GENERAL REGISTRATION INFORMATION

The registration portal can be accessed through the link under the "Registration" tab on the SDMHA website.  PLEASE HOVER OVER THE WORD ‘REGISTRATION’, AND SELECT GENERAL INFORMATION ON THE DROPDOWN MENU. New players will need to create an account in order to begin the registration process.

After creating an account, a verification code will be emailed to you to continue the process. Please check your junk mail in case it goes there. 
 

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION DATES

April 3^rd  – May 5^th  – Registration open 24/7 through the online link posted in the SDMHA Registration portal.  Players interested in tryout out for an “A” team must register before this date.

April 3^rd – June 30^th – Registration open 24/7 through the online link posted in the SDMHA Registration portal for any returning members not interested in “A” tryouts.

June 30^th – full payment of invoice or late fee applies

 ADDITIONAL FEES

Rep Team Try-Out Fee

Players wishing to try-out for SDMHA representative teams can register and select the $100 try-out fee during the online registration process. Try-out dates/times will be announced on the SDMHA website as they are scheduled. 

The try-out fee permits an eligible player to try out for an “A” team if so indicated, or an Additional Entry team if one is offered in his/her age category. Please note that try-out fees are not refundable after the player skates the first session.

Rep Fee

Players who are selected for and rostered on the “A” team or and Additional Entry teams will be charged an additional $250 fee to supplement the cost of additional ice received by the team.
