International Silver Stick Final Four!
The Rockets travelled to the Sarnia area over the weekend to compete in the International Silver Stick against a total of 16 teams. Only two teams coming from a BB center, the rest being "A" centers. So they knew some good hockey was ahead of them. The Rockets won all three round robin games which sent them into the quarter finals vs Sarnia. After a well played game the Rockets exceeded their original goal, of getting to the quarters and beat Sarnia 4-2 to move into the final four.
In the semis they would meet the only other BB team in the tournament, Midland Centennials. After a back and forth match Midland came out on top 4-3. Quite a few sad kids as they knew they were so close to that final game. But they all left with their heads held high, understanding how well they did competing against all those teams from Ontario and the USA. Arapahoe Warriors would beat Midland in the finals 3-2.
The Atom "A" 2014 All Stars were selected when the tournament was finished. The Rockets were lucky enough to have one of their own selected. Congratulations to Easton Cowan on being named one of the three forwards from the 16 teams in the tournament.
