Return to play Update
Submitted By Lloyd Mailloux on Tuesday, August 25, 2020
Taking into consideration the restrictions set out by both the Ontario Hockey Federation AND the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc, SDMHA has come up with a tentative plan to return to the ice beginning September 14th.

At this time we can only commit to U8 -U18 programming. (birth years 2003-2013).
Registration will reopen on September 1st, and new participants who are still interested in what we are able to offer can reach out to our Registrar to register if numbers allow. [email protected] Currently, we are offering programming until December 31st at a cost of $300 for each player (non-refundable). Please note that prior to December 31st, we will decide on a plan for programming from January until March, depending on the ‘Phase’ that our Municipality and/or organization finds itself in. There will be a further cost for the January – March programming, depending on what we are able to offer.
Before committing, please be aware of what you are signing up for from September – December.
1. Each team will be composed of approximately 10 players (9 skaters and a goalie).
2. Initially, each team will start with 2 ice times per week. (50 mins per session)
3. Once cleared for competition by OHF, each team will receive 1 practice time and 1 game time per week on average.
4. Due to OHF’s mandate, our only choice is to create teams based on last year’s standings. There will be no tryouts for September – December programming.
5. There will be no body contact in any division at any level.
6. It is our intention to create teams based on birth years wherever possible. To accomplish this, we will have to cap birth year registrations based on having suitable numbers to create teams. Players cannot play for more than one team.
7. Practices will be shared with another team.
8. We are trying to create a Rep and Local League loop that will conform to the 50 player bubble that is mandated from the OHF. The season will begin at stage 3B and 50 player bubbles are mandated until the end of 3E. The OHF chart will be posted for your reference.
Due to the nature of the programming we are able offer at this time, the cost to each player for participation from September – December will be $300. This fee is to cover ice and other nominal fees (refs, timekeepers if necessary), but does not include a volunteer fee, cash calendar or gate fee. Those will not be charged this year. The fee is non-refundable.
If you have already registered, you can confirm your registration by ensuring that your $300 per player has been paid by September 6th to allow for enough time to create teams.
If you have already registered, but no longer wish to play, please contact the registrar for a full refund of any money that has already been submitted.
If you paid more than $300 per player, SDMHA will refund the difference to you by cheque, by September 30th.
**AT THIS TIME, WE ARE UNABLE TO OFFER PROGRAMMING FOR U7 AND UNDER. (birth years 2014 – 2017). We will revisit programming for these divisions in September to determine whether or not we can make this program work within the parameters provided by both the OHF and the municipality. Refunds in full will be issued by cheque for those that have already paid for this programming. If we are able to offer some programming for these divisions as time moves forward, a new registration will open. Please stay tuned to the SDMHA website and/or Facebook page to see any updates.
We know this will definitely be year of hockey unlike what anyone is used to, but it is our hope to provide a safe, fun, yet skill-based program that everyone can enjoy given our current circumstances.
