Welcome to Peewee Blue!
Now that the teams have been finalized, we'd like to send out a warm welcome to everyone on our team!

Your coaching staff includes: Tony Dortmans (Coach), Dennis Dean (Coach), Shane Down (Coach) and Bram Gordyn (Trainer).  I'm Barb Dean and I'll be handling the majority of the communication and paperwork for our team!

Forms to complete:
At Thursdays practice I will be having each of you fill out the Medical & OMHA forms.   So be ready to fill them out!

Practice times:
Our practice times will be posted a month in advance, but none of the teams have assigned practice times this year. Four times per year, we will have Mike Bondy join us for our practice which take place at the WMMC - a great opportunity for our team - you need to attend this practice just like any other.  There will also be limited number of times throughout the year where we will have an early 4:30pm practice time.  We realize its difficult to get to that time but rest assured there are only a few times like this and every team has to take turns using up this time slot.

Tournaments:
We have three tournaments booked for the year.

November 7th & 8th - Tartan Tournament - Glencoe, ON

December 27-30th - John Henry tournament- Strathroy, ON

February 12-14th Riverside Family First Tournament - Windsor, ON
One away tournament in Windsor - Riverside Family First - Family Day weekend - February 12-14th weekend.  We have attended this one before and its a lot of fun and well organized.  I have our hotel rooms blocked off and will email that to you all in the next week.

There is a tournament fee associated with both the Tartan tournament as well as the Riverside tournament which I will communicate in the next two weeks.  The fee is split equally amongst all players on our team.  Game times usually come out about 2 weeks prior to tournament start.

Tournament Rep:
We are looking for someone from our team to fulfill our obligation as a tournament rep for the John Henry tournament.  You will have to help out at the tournament as well as gather door prizes - and organize our team baskets (2) to be submitted.  Our team members will contribute $10 per family towards those door prizes unless anyone on our team wants to donate any prizes on our behalf!  Being tournament rep also fulfills your requirements for your 10 hours of volunteer time.  Let me know if you'd like to take on this role for our team!

Subscribing to Updates:
Please ensure you go to the main page of SDMHA website and sign up for text and/or Email updates from our team.  The majority of our information will be relayed this way.  Our Teams Calendar can be found on this link: Peewee Blue Calendar  If you need help getting this set up I'd be happy to help.

Volunteer hours:
You can earn back your volunteer hours by putting in 10 hours of time doing various volunteer tasks through the season.  Starting this year, you can sign up for your volunteer hours via this website: SDMHA Volunteer Sign Up
As tasks are needed they will be posted on this website.

The collection of gate fees do not count towards these hours as its a commitment our team has to perform...so we take turns on that.

Gate Collection:
Each "home" game we have to assign one of our team families to collect the money to get into the game.  Record it on the sheets provided and deposit it into the metal drop box up stairs of Gemini closest to the window overlooking the Blue Pad.  On our Peewee Blue website you will see a Gate Duty tab.  This will shown when your gate collection will be.  Its up to you to come with a float, setup the table & sign (provided) if its not set up already, collect the fees and remit in the envelope & drop box.  Detailed outlines of gate collection are on our Gate Duty tab.  New this year, Adults $4, Seniors/ Students $2.  Note Season passes are not valid for Exhibition Games, OMHA Playdowns or League Playoffs.

Attendance:
It would be appreciated if you can not be at practice or games that you let our coaching staff know in advance if possible that way we can plan accordingly.  You can text me (519-619-8852) or email me. On game days, the kids are expected to be dressed & laces tied 15 minutes prior to game start.

We are all excited for a great year of hockey!  If you have questions or concerns, direct them my way and I'd be happy to assist in getting answers for you!
