PrintTournament Rules

      

                                         JOHN HENRY MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT RULES

1.    This tournament is open to OMHA and Alliance registered House /Local League teams only. NO SELECT TEAMS and NO REGISTERED COMPETITIVE PLAYERS will be allowed to play in this tournament. There will be body contact in PeeWee, Bantam and Midget divisions.

2.    All play is to exhibit the best in good sportsmanship and good conduct.

3.    Each team shall list a carded coach and trainer on each game sheet.

4.    ANY MAJOR PENALTY occurring in any period will result in the player being ejected from the current game and a suspension for the next game. ANY INTENT TO INJURE OR FIGHTING will result in the player’s ejection from the TOURNAMENT.

5.    All Divisions Length of Games:

Three ten minute stop time periods for Novice, Atom, PeeWee, Bantam & Midget

Tykes 45 minutes running time. Tykes may have one person on the ice with the players.

 

In the event of a tie at the end of regulation time all games in all divisions will play a five-minute 3 on 3 sudden victory period. If the score is still tied at the end of the overtime period each team will select 5 players for a shoot out. If the score is still tied at the end of the first five shooters a sudden victory shootout will commence with the remaining eligible players until a goal is scored. Penalties carry forward into overtime period. In the event of a penalty during overtime the opposing team will add a man to the ice for a 4 on 3. The 4th player will remain on the ice at the end of the penalty for a 4 on 4 until the first stoppage of play at which time a 3 on 3 will resume. Players that are serving a penalty at the end of the overtime period are not eligible to participate in the shoot out.

6.  Four Team Division - Rules:

This division will work on a points system four the first two games. Two points awarded for a win and zero points for a loss. The two points from the first two games will determine if the team is playing in the gold/silver game or bronze game. In the event of teams tied for points at the end of the first two games the following tie breakers will be used:

                                    1) Winner of Head to Head

                                    2) Goals against

                                    3) Goals for

                                    4) Least penalty minutes (all penalties)

                                    5) Coin toss

    Eight Team Division - Rules:

Your first game decides if you are competing on the Championship side or on the Consolation side.  The four teams on each side will play a second game to determine if they will play for the Gold - Silver game or the Bronze game for the side in which they were placed in after their first game.

  

*Should there be two divisions in a particular age group, the Gold medal winner from Division 1 on the Championship side will play a Best Overall Championship Game against the Gold medal winner from Division 2 on the Championship side.
 

7.  Designated HOME teams shall be responsible for changing sweaters in the event of a sweater similarity.

8.  All teams are guaranteed three games. All teams playing in the championship games in each division will receive Gold or Silver Medallions. The winner of the final game between 3rd and 4th place teams in each division will receive Bronze Medallions. All other participants will receive a John Henry Pin as a memento.

9.  Decisions of the convener or designate are final.

10. All teams must be ready 15 minutes before game time.
