New to SDMHA start here..., News, Novice LL Red, 2014-2015 (Strathroy Minor Hockey)

Volunteer hours:  You can earn back your volunteer hours by putting in 10 hours of time doing various volunteer tasks through the season.  You can email: [email protected] to arrange this.  The collection of gate fees do not count towards these hours as its a committment our team has to perform...so we take turns on that.

 

Gate Collection:  Each "home" game we have to assign one of our team families to collect the money to get into the game.  Record it on the sheets provided and deposit it into the metal drop box up stairs of Gemini closest to the window overlooking the Blue Pad.  On our Novice Red website you will see a Gate Duty tab.  This will shown when your gate collection will be.  Its up to you to come with a float, setup the table & sign (provided) if its not set up already, collect the fees and remit in the envelope & drop box.  Detailed outlines of gate collection are on our Gate Duty tab.

 

Tournaments: we are looking to do 1-2 "local" tournaments & 1 away tournament:

John Henry Tournament (over Christmas break based at the Gemini in Strathroy): there is no tournament fee associated with this tournament, it is included with our registration fee.  We will know game times early December for this tournament that takes place December 27-30th, 2014.

 

Family Day weekend tournament in Windsor:  The tournament fee is $550 split amongst all families going (so it will be approx $50 per family).  Included in this fee is a guaranteed 3 games.   Its a great weekend to have a tournament as monday is a holiday.   Hotels, meals & transportation are the responsibility of each family.

 

Attendance: As our team has a very small bench the kids are going to get lots of ice time.  This also means we need everyone to be at our games and practices...we realize sickness etc can come up and in those cases, please let us know as soon as you can - so we can make our game plans accordingly (or bring players up from Tyke if needed).  You can text me (519-619-8852) or email me of this type of absence.  On game days, the kids are expected to be dressed & laces tied 15 minutes prior to game start.

 

Cash Calendars: Included in your registration fee is Cash Calendars.  You will receive these after October 14th.  You can sell them to family & friends and drop the tickets in the same box that Gate collection goes.  You have already paid for these so you do not need to remint any funds to SDMHA.  Or you can put your name on all of them and submit.  Its up to you.

 

Subscribing to updates via Email/text:  One thing that will help you keep informed about our team is subscribing via email or text to updates.  This means you will receive an email/text of game changes & additions, news articles on our team posted to the web, SDMHA updates & game scores.  I prefer the email option but everyone is different based on how they like to communicate.  You can subscribe by going to the bottom left portion of the website (screen shot attached).  Click your prefered form and click the boxes for the team you want updates for.  In our case this is Novice Red.

 

 

Another great tool is the Calendar update.  I use an iPhone so I know it works amazing on there - but it does work with other devices as well.  It will populate your phone/ipad/computer calendar with our entire schedule.  It will usually change with schedule changes automatically depending on how your phone is setup.  At the bottom of the calendar on the website it will say, "You can use MyCal to combine schedules from multiple teams.
