Win-less Weekend for Strathroy Blue
It would appear that going over two weeks without a practice does not bode well for the Bantam LL Blue team. The boys played back to back games this weekend, traveling to Point Edward on Saturday, November 30th and then taking on the Lucan Irish on Sunday, December 1st at home. Unfortunately, despite some great moments they weren't able to secure a win on either occasion.
In their game against Point Edward the boys came out strong, playing solid defensive hockey with obvious energy and enthusiasm. From this spectator's perspective, there was some excellent passing and despite an early goal by Point Edward, our boys seemed determined to hold their own and bring home a win. Sadly, despite their best efforts, they weren't able to do so, and the game ended at a final score of 6-1. Our goal was earned by Griffin S., assisted by Brennan L. and Jacob B.
On Sunday, the boys attempted to regroup on home ice against Lucan. There seemed to be slightly less fire in their bellies, however, and Lucan scored the first goal of the game mid-way through the first period. Despite numerous opportunities, Strathroy wasn't able to put one past the Lucan goalie until well into the third period. Picking up the pace a little, it looked as though the game might have ended in a tie, but Lucan fought hard and popped another in our net; our boys simply weren't able to get it back and the final score was 2-1 for Lucan. Credit for our goal goes to Griffin S., assisted by Jacob B. and Evan S.
Our next game will be at home on Sunday, December 8th at 6:10 p.m. vs East Lambton. Let's go Bantam Blue!
