j.r rockets win hometown olympics
our first game was bright and early friday vs mt brydges, after a slow start the rockets gave up the first and only goal of the round robin. The boys finally woke up in the 2nd and scored 3 unanswered. goals were thuss from richardson, kostesku. Boersma unassisted on a coast to coast rush and mcfee from townsend, mackey.

the afternoon game vs Tavistock was a good battle. the boys showed up to play at both ends of the ice  and the result showed that, out shooting them 49-12 and earning the W. Tavistock goalie had a great game but the flurry of shots was just to much. finding the back of the net was mckeown from dortmans, richardson from mackey and townsend. Hack from thuss to cap off the 3-0 victory.  Saturday was great day for hockey. Shutting out ilderton in the morning 3-0 and the same to elmvale in the afternoon 6-0. A solid 4-0 record in the round robin and earning our spot in the championship game vs petrolia.
the game vs petrolia was nothing short of an epic battle. both teams stepped up their games and came to play. Petrolia scored with 2 min left in the first to take the lead. With  good puck movement from our D and solid back checking from the forwards we were able to  minimize our mistakes and shut them down for the rest of the game. We tied it up mid way through the 2nd with a goal from Mcfee. Goulart made some key saves in the 3rd to keep the game tied. after a 5 min 5 on 5 with no result we headed to double overtime 3 0n 3. 1 min in Petrolia got a breakaway and was shutdown by Goulart with a great save. Kostesku back checking hard picked up the rebound and started and nice play that sent Mackey in on a breakaway who made no mistake and found mesh to win it all.
tournament MVP went to Goulart for his outstanding play 5-0 record with only 2 goals against. Our defense were solid all weekend and really deserve a big pat on the back. the forwards battled hard all weekend at both ends of the ice and gave 3 efforts which helped bring home the gold.

saturday from logan hackney " hockey is a unique sport in the sense that you need each and every person pulling in the same direction to be successful"
