Great Weekend
The Strathroy Novice White Rockets played in the Riverside Family First Tournament over the past weekend.   The Rockets used an aggressive fore-check and tough back check to pave the way to the finals.

The Rockets would play 3 round robin games against Riverside teams and earn a win in each game to advance to the semi finals securing first place with the lowest penalty minutes and goals against.

In the semi-finals the Rockets would meet up against the Mt. Brydges Cougars Gold in a hard fought close match. The Cougars came out hard in the beginning building a 4-2 lead over the Rockets going into the third period.  The Rockets never stopped believing in themselves and with 5 minutes left in the game the Rockets began their historic come back.  The Rockets scored one to make the game 4-3 and tied it with 2 minutes left on a goal by Carter to setup the nail biting finish.  The game would end in a tie and would need to be decided by a Shootout. With Mt Brydges shooting first and missing on their first attempt on Brennon, Ryan went to center to try and build a lead.  Despite an awesome deak Ryan missed on his attempt.  Mt Brydges second shooter went in and scored a nice goal on Brennon.   Tyson was next up for the Rockets trying to tie the game back up.  Tyson went in and sniped one top cheese for the Rockets to even the score.  Mt Brydges sent in there next shooter and was stoned by Brennon.  Next up was Josh with the game on his stick.  Not feeling any pressure Josh went in and made a nice move but was stopped by the Mt Brydges goalie.  The shootout would come to a sudden death format now and Mt Brydges went in first to try and break the deadlock.  Brennon made another solid stop to keep the Cougars at bay.  Next up for the Rockets was Carter getting the tap to go for the Rockets.  Carter skated to center and despite mom and dad not being able to watch he streaked in to the Cougars end and fired a shot thru the Cougars goalie five hole and pandemonium broke out as the Rockets advanced to the final.

The Rockets would face a tough test in the final against Mt Brydges Cougars Gold.  Playing there third game of the day in the late night hours the Rockets took to the ice to take their run at a Championship.   The Rockets battled hard through the whole game and had excellent play by everyone on the team but came up against a determined team.  The Rockets won a SILVER MEDAL in the Tourney and should all be proud of how they play.

It was a special weekend for many of the Rockets players.  Logan scored his first goal of the season and added another in the next game to make sure everyone knew he could put the puck in the net.  Nial crashed the net all weekend and scored his first goal of the season and followed that up with two more goals the next game sitting in his spot out front of the net collecting those rebounds and barrying them in the net. Trevor scored his first goal of the season with an excellent effort crashing the net.    Nolan battled the flu on Saturday and returned Sunday morning to take the Most Valuable Player of the Game award.  Nial and Josh also secured MVP of the game awards in the Round Robin.   Nial for his hard work to get the goals and Josh for listening and working on his defensive play.   Matt was an amazing AP for the Rockets and his efforts were awesome all weekend.  Even Sunday playing his fourth game of the day in the Championship.   Keags (Rodeo) battled hard all weekend and worked on those quick pivots to tie up the opposing team and hold their attack at bay.   Tucker stuck to his positions worked on the little things and it paid off in his excellent play.  Brennon held the other teams at bay.  Ryan skated his hardest and battled hard every shift.   Carter was his usual Bulldog self and played a valuable part in the Rockets advance to the finals.   Tyson worked his magic all weekend with a tough back check solid fore-check.  He battled hard in the Championship game and earned the MVP of the game.

The Rockets learned a valuable lessons on the weekend never quit and you never know what can happen. The coaching staff is proud of all the boys.  Keep up the hard work boys and you never know what can happen.
