Commitment / Dedication & Perseverance = Success…
The Strathroy Atom Rep Jr Rockets spent this past weekend weathering The Storm in Bruce County where they participated in their final scheduled tournament of the season - The Chris Knott Memorial.  This was their first & only overnight tournament so the players were excited to say the least and have been looking forward to it for some time.  Team play has been a primary focus all year however, this weekend something clicked, everything came together & the team put forth a collaboration of what could be viewed as their best performances to date…

Strathroy played a total of 5 games starting with a 3 game preliminary round with Saugeen Shores, Kincardine and Caledonia.  The Rockets went undefeated, finishing top seed and moved on to face Saugeen Shores in the semi-final.  Kincardine pulled off a solid 4-2 win over Caledonia in the other semi-final making for a Strathroy vs Kincardine final.

The game remained scoreless through the first and 1-0 through the second.  It had the makings of a tight finish however the Rocket's relentless pressure was too much to handle in the third.  The scoring opened up with 5 unanswered goals with Strathroy going on to win the championship 6-0.  The Rockets not only met expectations, they exceeded them throughout the tournament outscoring their opponents 27-2 while demonstrating great sportsmanship & class along the way.  Every member contributed to the success starting with solid goaltending and a defensive core who showed patience & maturity controlling the puck and pace of play in all areas of the ice.  The forwards continued to show their dominance especially in the offensive zone where they worked cohesively to create opportunities which lead to many unselfish, highlight reel goals.

As Bobby Hull  (The Golden Jet) once said,"What makes it all worthwhile is we just play for the sheer enjoyment of entertaining people and...make our families and the team we played on and the people watching, proud of what we did."

This can be said regardless of age, league, divisions, type of sport - it always comes back to basics...work hard, do your best & have FUN.  The commitment, dedication & perseverance put forth has enabled this team to continuously improve and build upon their successes.  The players have earned the privilege of being called champions - it is well deserved & we are very proud of each and every one of you.  Congratulations!
!!

Our season is winding down but our WORK is far from done.  We now shift our focus to the remaining playoffs & look to make the best of all opportunities...
