Jr. Rockets finish strong in OMHA Round Robin
On February 19th, the Strathroy Novice Rep team (sponsored by Dodge Caravan Kids and Ricco Foods) travelled to Dorchester to wrap up their OMHA Round Robin play. The Jr Rockets entered the game hoping to finish with a perfect 8-0-0 record.

In the first period, Isaac McKeown made a nice pass out of the defensive zone to Ryan Sanders, who then sent Easton Cowan in alone with a great feed up ice. Cowan took advantage, sniping one top shelf, and springing the Rockets to a 1-0 lead.
Midway through the 2nd, in the offensive zone, Logan Parker won a faceoff clean back to Keith Dortmans. Dortmans then passed it back to Parker, who made no mistake finding the back of the net and putting the Rockets ahead 2-0.
Parker sniped his 2nd of the game midway through the 3rd, giving the Rockets a 3-1 lead. This goal came as a result of great work on the cycle from Logan Hackney and Sanders, who each picked up assists on the goal.
Late in the 3rd, Hackney made a great saucer pass up ice, which sent Cowan and Mark Hewitt in on a 2 on 1. Cowan slid a pass over to Hewitt who went to the net hard and buried one past the netminder, to seal a 4-1 victory.
Although held off the score sheet, Griffin Cann had a handful of good scoring chances and made some great defensive plays to help his team.
Defencemen Kaleb Boersma, Noah Kostesku, Curtis Lalich, McKeown, Noah Williams and goaltender Lucas Goulart were solid once again, only giving up one goal. This defensive unit has been like a brick wall throughout Round Robin and Goulart has been stellar in net when called upon, allowing just 9 goals against in the 8 games played.
The Rockets now move on to the Novice BB West OMHA Semi-finals, where they hope to keep their winning ways alive. They will face Dorchester, who won the coin flip for home ice advantage, in a 6 point series. Game 2 will be at the Gemini on Friday, March 1, at 6pm. Game 4, if necessary, will be at the Gemini on Thursday, March 7, at 6pm. Come on out to enjoy some great hockey and support your Strathroy Novice Rep team.
