Rockets Win Opener For #17
The Strathroy Rockets Novice Rep team opened their season with a very strong effort, defeating the Mooretown Storm 8-2.

Teammate, Ryan Sanders, who was in Critical Care at the Children's Hospital just last week with a dirt biking injury, was feeling well and came to support his team. His presence in the dressing room inspired his teammates to give their best effort and they came out with fire in their hearts. In the first shift of the game, Easton Cowan opened the scoring, with Isaac McKeown earning the assist. After the game, Easton commented, "that one was for Ry."
The very next shift, the Rockets continued to buzz and got goals from Mark Hewitt and Kaleb Boersma, while Logan Parker picked up an assist. Lucas Goulart was alert between the pipes, making good saves and sucking in rebounds like a vacuum.
The Rockets would continue their strong effort and great team play into the 2nd, getting 2 goals from Keith Dortmans and another from Mark Hewitt, his 2nd of the game. Logan Hackney and Griffin Cann each had a helper.
Solid goaltending and strong defensive play by D-men Curtis Lalich, Noah Kostesku, Isaac McKeown and Noah Williams, held Mooretown off the board through 2 periods of play.
Both teams would score a pair in the 3rd, as Easton Cowan potted his 2nd and Keith Dortmans picked up a hat-trick.
After the game, the team dedicated the win to their teammate and friend, #17.
