11-12 Bantam Rep - Strathroy Bantam Rep Sweep Lambeth
The Strathroy Tire Bantam Rep Jr. Rockets swept the Lambeth Lancers in the first round of the OMHA playdowns. Strathroy began the series at home Jan. 31st and came away with a convincing 5-1 win.
Goal scorers for the Jr. Rockets were Josh Fulmer (2), Brian Mc Lean, Matt Slegers and Jakob Rody. Assists went to Logan Sullivan (2), Kyle Vanderheyden, Jake Melo, Jimmy Knapman, Mc Lean and Slegers. Strathroy then travelled to Lambeth for game two on Feb. 3rd. The Jr. Rockets started slow but took control after the first period and came away with a 5-2 win. Scoring for Strathroy were Turner Balasin, Fulmer, Sullivan, Mc Lean and Fulmer. Assists went to Jackson Kading (2), Alex Vanderheyden, Sullivan, Mc Lean, and Rody. With a stranglehold on the series, Strathroy returned home to the Gemini and were looking for the sweep on Feb. 6th. The Jr. Rockets came out strong and dominated the play from start to finish, coming away with a 5-0 shutout for goaltender Morgan Reed. Goal scorers for Strathroy were Rody (2), Kading, Sullivan and Fulmer. Assists went to Alex Vanderheyden (3), Brandon Van Dyk, Daniel Mc Lenon, Mc Lean and Sullivan. The Jr. Rockets will meet the Wallaceburg Lakers in the quarterfinals beginning Feb. 13th in Strathroy and returning for Game 3 Sunday, Feb. 19th at 7:25 at the Gemini.
